Two embroidered cats - Betty and Gentle Gretel

Two embroidered cats - Betty and Gentle Gretel

I've recently made two cats who both unintentionally seemed to have a strong preference for pink!

I really enjoyed creating Gentle Gretel (below) because initially I felt I was really overdoing her face but the more I continued the more I felt she grew with the threads and let me know she was meant to be. She's a gentle soul, she encourages you to be too. Ask after your friends, check they're okay. Don't be offended when the shop assistant is rude, maybe they are just sad that day. Be patient when the queue is long, life is longer than we are led to believe. Say 'take your time', 'it's okay', and 'how are you really doing today'!

Betty the Beast of Bevendean
Betty was made for a cat themed exhibition at Atelier Brighton so she was inspired by the Beast of Bevendean who you can see hiding behind her ears! A legendary black cat who roams around Brighton. Both of these cats are stitched from buried fabrics and vintage finds and then hand embroidered.
