Buried Fables - Belling the Cat and The Tortoise and the Hare

Buried Fables - Belling the Cat and The Tortoise and the Hare

I created two new characters for the Enchanted Fables exhibition with Curio Gallery

The first was Belle the Cat. She was based on the fable of Belling the Cat.

All of the mice agree that belling the cat is a good idea but who is actually brave enough to do it. The difference between ideas and the reality of putting them into action. But, this Belle, she isn't a creature to be scared of, not everything is as scary as it may seem....That was my take on the original fable :)

She is made from buried fabrics and is hand embroidered with many mice who have discovered a friend and not a foe. (She has now sold to a lovely owner who was fated to be with her. Belle was the character who has had the most attention to date with those wanting to purchase her. She is a very knowing soul and was hard to part with!)

Next up was Tortoise and the Hare. Two friends who grew to realise that they could meet in the middle and that life doesn't have to be a race.

Again these two are made from buried fabrics and embroidered with illustrations relating to the story.
